This unit is what is known as an “X-Unit.” These are replacement displays used by Raymarine’s warranty department to replace displays sent in for repair. Support for the P70 was sunsetted by Raymarine and we were able to obtain these excellent condition X-units. They are in excellent condition, and come with suncovers.

We have paired these up with Seatalk junction boxes and adapter cables to provide customers with a plug and play replacement for their ST6000+ ST6001 ST6001+ and ST6002 autopilot heads that are surface mounted. The way you know if your unit is surface mounted is the hole in the dash is round. If the hole on the dash is square, you have a flush mounted head and you can still use this kit but you’ll need an adapter plate made to cover the hole. You will use silicone or similar to mount and the silicone will cover the original stud holes on your existing unit as the P70 uses screws in the 4 corners (included).

If you have an ST7000+/7001/7002 or ST8001/8002 head, this will also work for you, but the unit will only cover a portion of the original footprint as it is smaller. Same rule goes for these larger displays, round hole in the dash means it will mount in the same hole, rectangular hole means the unit was flush mounted and a plate will need to be made. For surface mounted (round hole) installations replacing larger 7000 and 8000 series heads, there will be a couple small holes where the mounting studs were that will not be covered by the footprint of this unit. They will need to be filled in with marinetex or similar.

To install, simply unplug one or both cresent shaped seatalk plugs from your old head, plug them into the included Seatalk block along with the supplied cable, and plug the supplied cable into either of the Seatalk NG ports on the back of this display – it’s that simple!

Most legacy computers will be compatible with this setup with the exception of the type 100 and type 300 computers. These are not compatible.

Type 150/S1, Type 150G/S1G, Type 400/S2, Type 400G/S2G, S3, S3G, All SPX-Series Computers are compatible and are what is connected to the vast majority of the head units mentioned above.

We have tested all of these units individually and brought them up to the latest software version, version 3.12. These displays come with a 90 day warranty through Max Marine Electronics.
